Innovative People Event: Waste Management Culture
July 19, 2018 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm$10.00
What happens when you transform your purpose-driven brand of sustainability into a culture? Our featured guest this month created a company that generates enough energy to power a city nearly the size of Dallas, Texas, annually.
Waste Management’s mission is to maximize resource value, while minimizing environmental impact. Today they create enough energy to power 1.15 million homes each year. They serve just shy of 25 million customers and manage more than 13 million tons of recyclable commodities, making them North America’s largest recycler. Known for their creative and effective environmental solutions, Waste Management is also recognized for their culture. This year already named “2018 Best Companies for Millennials” by The Women’s Choice Award, and “Best for Vets Employers 2018” by Military Times, Waste Management engages employees in their mission and is quick to recognize the importance benefits and safety play in their industry. Example – this year Waste Management announced they would be paying forward their US corporate tax savings by distributing $2,000 to each non-commissioned (or bonused) North America employee in 2018.
So, how do they attract, retain, and engage talent in their quest to eliminate waste? On July 19th we welcome Waste Management’s Director of HR, Shannon Teixeira, Community Outreach Leader, Isha Cogburn, to discuss Waste Management Culture.
